This illustration is inspired by a walk on a hot summer day in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don.Narrow southern fishing rods, decorated with tall trees, offer a view of the center of the composition - an Orthodox church. Golden domes shimmer in the sun and betray the warmth of that day. The source of inspiration for this work was the ancient Russian city of Sergiev Posad. Its history goes back to the distant XIV century. The illustration shows an architectural fragment of the monastery complex of the Holy Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, the "residence of the patriarch" - this status was assigned by Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in 1744.Now this architectural monument of culture is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and is an open-air museum. In the foreground of the painting is the "Canopy over the Cross" this is a Pool for the consecration of water, with a canopy above it in the form of an elegant tent with a dome and a cross. In the center of the pool there is a cross, from the horizontal crossbeam of which healing water flows into the pool from the Uspensky treasure. This is a place of power and spiritual purification.
